NIMO Builds Future Competence from Hova to Skaraborg
Securing the skills of the future is one of NIMO’s top priorities. With its roots in Hova and all production based locally, the company is working on several fronts to develop its people, its community, and the wider region.
Building competence from within
“For us, it’s about creating the right conditions for people to grow. Competence isn’t just about education – it’s about engagement, drive, and continuous development,” says Johanna Wallentin-Stenlund, Communications Manager at NIMO.
At NIMO, there is a strong culture of learning and development. Many of today’s employees began their journey in the company’s core operations – production – and have gradually taken on new roles, often through internal training, mentorship, or further education.
When people stay with the company long-term, both knowledge and commitment are built up. This is a crucial part of NIMO’s success and a clear example of the company’s long-term approach to talent development.
Collaboration for the Future
To secure the right competencies in the long run, NIMO collaborates with several educational institutions in the region. A key example is the DaCapo training program in Mariestad, where NIMO is an active member of the steering committee. This work aims to ensure that the curriculum is tailored to the industry's needs and future development.
“Development is moving quickly, and we want to be part of it—not just as an employer, but as a stakeholder contributing to the strength of the entire community,” says Erik Eklund, Manager Supply Chain & Operations at NIMO.
NIMO is also a member of the advisory board for Kompetenskraft Skaraborg (Skills Strength Skaraborg), a project run by Drivhuset Skaraborg in collaboration with the University of Skövde, IDC West Sweden, and several local business stakeholders. The aim is to find new avenues for future talent supply and strengthen collaboration between businesses, education, and the region.
Guldläge Skaraborg – Pride and Growth
Another initiative where NIMO plays a central role is Guldläge Skaraborg (Golden Opportunity Skaraborg), which is launching on November 4, 2025. The project was initiated by NIMO and is run in partnership with Kraftgruppen (The Power Group), a network of small and medium-sized industrial companies, along with the municipalities of Gullspång and Töreboda.
The goal is to highlight the region’s advantages, build local pride, and attract more companies and residents to the area.
“We want to show that our part of Skaraborg is a place of great opportunity—both for companies and for people,” says Johanna Wallentin-Stenlund.
Sustainable Growth Starts Locally
Through its involvement in multiple initiatives, from educational partnerships to place-marketing and local development, NIMO demonstrates that securing the future workforce is not about single projects, but about a holistic approach.
For NIMO, sustainable growth always begins on home ground—in Hova.
